Nurtury's Family Child Care (FCC) Incubator

Nurtury Early Education is launching the Commonwealth’s first Family Child Care (FCC) Incubator, which will provide short-term program space, resources, and training for newly-licensed family child care entrepreneurs to launch their small businesses and provide on-site care to families in the Roxbury/Mission Hill area of Boston.

The demand for child care is there, but many barriers make it difficult for aspiring FCC entrepreneurs to secure residential space that meet licensing requirements in order to enter the field. Nurtury’s FCC Incubator is designed to assist FCC educators with opening their own programs, thus expanding access to high-quality early education and child care options for more families.

Nurtury’s three inaugural “Incubator Residents” are set to open their FCC programs in February 2025.

What barrier(s) did not allow you to open your own FCC in your home?

“The main barriers that have prevented me from opening my own Family Child Care in my home have been the lack of financial resources to acquire a suitable home where I could offer the service. Additionally, I have faced the difficulty of finding a place where the owners would allow me to operate a child care business, which is essential to comply with local regulations and create a safe environment for children.”
