Congratulations to our FCC Pre-Licensing Program graduates!!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Nurtury’s Learning Lab on October 10th to celebrate the fourteen graduates who completed Nurtury Early Education’s Family Child Care (FCC) Pre-Licensing Program, launched in partnership with United Way of Massachusetts Bay’s Shared Services and supported by The CAYL Institute.

This FCC Pre-Licensing Program was designed to equip early childhood educators with the tools and resources needed to develop and sustain strong businesses in order to provide high-quality early childhood education to the children in their care.

The five-month-long program assisted educators with the Department of Early Education and Care’s licensing process. The course offered small group meetings, individual coaching sessions, and in-person visits for program environment setup support. Each educator also received a free laptop and one year of free WiFi through Tech Goes Home.

We are so proud of this group of aspiring entrepreneurs who worked hard these past few months and are now one step closer to launching their own family child care micro business.

Many of our graduates have already set up their program spaces and have been licensed. Above shows the program space of graduate Katherine Ramos.

This program can also be a stepping stone to joining Nurtury’s Family Child Care network. FCC Educators who join our network receive many benefits, including a complementary printer/scanner in addition to ongoing program support such as enrollment assistance, curriculum planning, and devoted family partners to monitor children’s development and connect families to community resources.

Thank you to all of our collaborators for their partnership with our FCC Pre-Licensing Program. This innovative program was funded by The Good Jobs Challenge grant as part of the American Rescue Plan. In partnership with The City of Boston’s Office of Workforce Development and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council, The CAYL Institute coordinates the work for the childcare sector.
